Stand in black
And in the mourning
Fresh faced and new
The loss of your love
Will slowly come through
You gotta stand up
Like the man that you are
Cause it's only you now
Leading the choir
And I will stand
In black beside you
Cause for all of my love
That's all I can do
I will stand
In black beside you
Cause for all of my love
That's all I can do
And in the morning
Breakfast at noon
Noone will know
Just what they can do
And in the mourning
Drinks and remarks
Do good to conceal
All those broken hearts
Better bite that tongue man
Hold back all that you can
Cause you say to yourself
It won't fix anything
And your eyes are clear gloss
As the sermon rolls in
Though your heart is pumping
You just can't give in
And I will stand
In black beside you
Cause for all of my love
That's all I can do
I will stand
In black beside you
Cause for all of my love
That's all I can do
And in the mourning
Fresh faced and new
The loss of your love
Will slowly come through
And in the morning
first saw Hilary when she toured Europe with Low in 2019, saw her 4 times on that tour. extraordinary. latest LP, Birthmarks, sees her on the edge of music. utterly perfect hatteroid
This is absolute genius. Each song has its own unique mood, but what they all have in common is that they take their time, allowing the lush, patient, dazzlingly imaginative arrangements to gradually blossom. There are a dizzying variety of instrumental textures, pleasure and wonderment around every turn. I'm getting hints of Will Oldham circa "Arise Therefore," though that album is much more spare. Proof that "experimental" doesn't necessarily mean noisy. Joe Madden
